Oster Swiftcook 6-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker Review.

I love this. I read others reviews, saying they dont understand how to make the regulator "jiggle". I got a screaming good deal on this, so I decided to risk it.

The regulator is not in the center which seems odd, but I found that once the red lock is in the "locked" position, I turn the heat down a notch and start timing. Then, I dont adjust the heat unless the sound changes.

The regulator never really "jiggles" it just kind of "hisses". When done timing, I off the heat and use a spatula to release the pressure or let it return to normal naturally. Then I remove the lid and enjoy the most tender meats I have ever tasted.

Some rules about pressure cooking: 1. Don't overfill; 2. Make sure there is enough liquid; 3. Don't use OIL as a liquid. Beer, Wine, Water, Fruit Juice etc. is fine tho.

Suggestion: Try a few pressure cooker recipes (from the internet) until you get comfortable, then be creative and make your own recipes.

I can make a beef roast from freezer to table in 1 hour. It would take me 1 & 1/2 days of slow roasting to get this same quality. Saves energy, saves time, tastes great.

I wanted this for years, and couldn't afford it before. ( My first pressure cooker was $60 for a 4 qt). Here it was the same price as the 4 qt. and so it was a no brainer to finally get it and it is and Oster, wow, I'm impressed and pleased. If you like quick, fat free ( as in its own juices) dinners this is the way to go.

It performs as described and is good for someone cooking small amounts of food. The 6-quart is the only limitation I would mention, but it should be no surprise. It doesn't indicate when the food is cooked (with a whistle), but the manual tells suggested times of cooking for various foods.

I was looking for a stainless steel pressure cooker because it's healthier than the aluminium one. I can tell you I also was attracted to this brand because of the unbeateable price Amazon had on that day ($27 dlls). Eventhough is not a 15 psi cooker, it's only 11.6 psi, it cooks fast and it's very safe to use. I think also the gasket and other replacement parts you may need would be easy to get. And very pleased with the quality and heaviness of the stainlees steel of this cooker and it's mirror finish.

This is my first pressure cooker I've ever used. It's pretty simple and once I figured out how to keep the pressure up with my stove, it worked perfectly. I really like it. If you have a big family, I reccommend a bigger pot as some recipes you can only fill halfway. (beans) I had to go buy a recipe book as this one didn't come with anything except the owners manual.
